Our Story

Eight years ago we had no idea what we wanted to do with our lives. We were living in a seaside town on the South Coast of England, I was working for my parents manufacturing business that I had no intention of ever taking over and Grace was training to become an accountant, working of all places at the local water board, which she found quite dull.

We were still young so it was no big deal, we lived for the weekends; exploring the coast line, going out for dinners with friends and mostly doing what other young couples do in towns across the country every night (wandering around supermarkets deciding what to have for dinner before retreating to the sofa to decide what to watch on Netflix).

I loved cameras and it was the pursuit of new landscapes to photograph that started our travels, in turn this lead to a few of our shots in a local paper that ignited a potential new career. We took every opportunity that came our way and within a few years we somehow found ourselves at the end of a runway photographing a fashion show in Milan, leading us on an adventure into the fashion industry where we ended up working with huge brands like Vogue on incredible events from New York to Mumbai.

I am aware our story jumps from relatable to irrelevant, but what is really on display is the almost unique potential of photography to get you into worlds you otherwise have no place in. In hindsight our journey is obvious, we can track every opportunity to which we said yes and how it played a part in the bigger picture of our career, and to start with it was as mundane as you can imagine. For instance, around 18 months before Grace’s photographs covering a fashion event in London were first published by Vogue, we’d been in a ‘new and exciting’ local Pie Shop taking photos for an article we’d pitched to our local newspaper.

The reality is we took the long way round; we’ve meandered through a career in photography, lost in the woods on more than one occasion, eventually settling into living in London as Wedding Photographers, a life we’d never have guessed those years ago. All in all we wouldn’t necessarily dissuade anyone from taking the slow boat, it’s been a wonderful journey (rose tinted lenses firmly affixed), but what if we could give you a map?

There’s still miles of uncharted track ahead, but we wanted to lay out what we’ve learnt so far along the road. A guidebook for lovers of photography trying to figure out how to build a career doing something they love.
